Member Spotlight - Borg Galea & Associates: Boutique Accounting Firm with Plans to Scale Up
Malta is home to many established accounting and auditing firms, but it also hosts young firms ready to compete for a share of the market. One of them is FinanceMalta member Borg Galea & Associates.
For those that don’t know Borg Galea & Associates, can you provide some background on the company?
Borg Galea & Associates is a boutique licensed accounting and auditing firm located in Santa Venera. It offers a vast range of services in accounting, advisory, auditing, legal, and taxation to both local and international clients in the private, public and social sectors. It was founded by its two directors, Nathaniel Borg and Roderick Galea, in 2017. Since then, the company has grown to employ numerous professionals.
Can you share a little-known fact about Borg Galea & Associates?
Despite being a young, dedicated, and ambitious team, all our team members are highly qualified and experienced within our industry. We are also a very multi-cultural team because our team members comprise four different nationalities from across four different continents: Europe, Africa, North America as well as South America.
What are you currently working on and what are your company’s plans and strategic priorities for the coming years?
Since its inception, Borg Galea & Associates’ main objective has been to provide a stellar and personalised professional service to each of its clients. We are currently investing in our internal infrastructure and training all our team to keep providing such a personalised approach, even as we scale up.Such objective is accompanied hand in hand with having all our members equipped with current industry knowledge, ongoing developments within the local and international legal background, and the current trends and how they impact our clients. This way, we can always be a step ahead of the market requirements and ensure that our clients are receiving an outstanding service that goes beyond their expectations.
Are there any projects/achievements of your company that you are exceptionally proud of?
The entire company’s objectives revolve around customer satisfaction. Every time a client of ours walks out smiling from our office, this is a proud moment because it implies that the client is happy, satisfied and indicates that we have reached the objective. This proud moment further intensifies when the client recommends our services to other individuals and businesses.
What in your opinion makes Malta an effective jurisdiction to set up a business?
Malta’s strategic location at the centre of the Mediterranean has made Malta the country of choice for various projects including, but not limited to, the film industry, gaming, IT, tourism, flights and cruises’ connection to other countries, relocation purposes and last but not least in the setting up of brand-new businesses.Another advantage is the fact that Malta is a member of the European Union. Besides the Maltese language, English is also an official language of the Maltese Islands. Furthermore, many people in Malta tend to be fluent in other foreign languages, mostly in Italian. Malta also offers an attractive tax regime, which makes it a competitive destination for business purposes.
What kind of people/companies in the financial services community would you want to connect with?
We seek to connect with a wide range of diverse clients across different industries and spanning the whole globe to enable us to expand our company portfolio. It goes without saying that we ensure that these are ethical and socially responsible firms and people. In doing so, we would be continuously able to showcase our employees’ professionalism whilst also strengthening their skillset.Bio:Nathaniel Borg is one of the founding directors of Borg Galea & Associates. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Birmingham University and is a fellow of ACCA. Nathaniel has experience working in Malta and the United Kingdom.
