A Maltese is one of two people appointed to the Management Board of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
Christopher Buttigieg, a chief officer with the Malta Financial Services Authority, was appointed to the board, along with Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani from the Autorité Des Marchés Financiers in France.
ESMA also announced that Armi Taipale of Finanssivalvonta had been reappointed for a second mandate.
ESMA is the European Union’s financial markets regulator and supervisor. Its Management Board is responsible for ensuring that the Authority carries out its mission and performs the tasks assigned to it under its founding Regulation.
