Dear Readers,

The last quarter of 2021 was a very dynamic and exciting one, with a clear focus on road-mapping and vision setting. I would like to share some key highlights with you.

In the span of just a few weeks, we attended seven international events and promoted Malta as a financial centre at FinTech Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi), the GCC Family Investor Annual Summit (Dubai), the European Captive Forum (Luxembourg), the New Statesman Fintech Summit (London), the Family Office Forum (Zurich), the Private Wealth Zurich Forum (Zurich) and the Emerging Manager Forum (London). In addition, we participated in several events in Malta, including the Startup Festival and Malta Asset Management Forum 2021.

Roundtable of EU Financial Centres
Together with ten other organisations from Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and Estonia representing EU financial centres and federations, we founded the Roundtable of EU financial centres, which is the EU regional chapter of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers. The Roundtable will promote the creation of a common EU financial market as well as strengthening cooperation and exchange regarding financial services between EU member states. We look forward to working with our EU counterparts by representing the industry with a common voice at a European level.

Why Malta Guides
Locally, we are also working with numerous sector experts and associations to set a vision for our financial services sector. We are happy to announce that we have launched new sectorial guides to our diverse financial services industry. The Why Malta brochures are freely available on our website, and we invite you to use them in your own marketing efforts. As a benefit applicable only to our members, the publication can be co-branded with your company logo. Contact us if you wish to take advantage of this unique initiative.

Together.Again. FinanceMalta meets…
In November, we launched the first FinanceMalta sectorial-specific in-person event, where we discussed the status of the insurance sector. We had been waiting to meet our members in-person for nearly two years, and we felt it was more important than ever to discuss and debate the current challenges and opportunities. The next event of this series will focus on Fintech will take place on the 27th January 2022, so don’t forget to mark your calendars.

We look forward to continuing to work with all of you in 2022 and wish you all the best for the festive season.

Best wishes,
Ivan Grech
