Dr Katya Azzopardi was presented with this year’s BOV Prize in Medicine, an annual award presented to the student who attains the highest marks in the final qualifications in Medicine.

Now in its 16th edition, the BOV Prize in Medicine was established by Bank of Valletta and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malta. A commemorative certificate and a cash prize are awarded to the student obtaining top marks from a written paper, a clinical hands-on exam and an exam in essential core competences which assesses the students on various skills such as communication, data analysis and handling an emergency scenario.

Charles Azzopardi, Executive CSR & Communications at Bank of Valletta presented the BOV Prize in Medicine to Dr Azzopardi in the presence of Prof Stephen Montefort, Head of the Department of Medicine and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery within the University of Malta.

“We are proud to be once again supporting this initiative that celebrates the brilliant work of Medicine students,” said Charles Azzopardi. “The annual Prize in Medicine reflects the Bank’s commitment to acknowledge and motivate students to excel in their areas of study. We are certain that our investment in education perfectly aligns with our ESG vision to contribute towards inclusive and equitable quality education, which will give the Maltese society a much greater return in the future.”

Prof Montefort thanked Bank of Valletta for once again recognising the remarkable achievements of students. “While COVID-19 impacted practically everyone, the life of a student has definitely become more challenging to cope with. Bank of Valletta’s kind gesture continues to motivate our students to aim for splendid results in their studies.”

We take this opportunity to congratulate Dr Katya Azzopardi on her impressive academic performance.
