EXTERNAL CALL: Research AnalystA vacancy has arisen for the post of Research Analyst with FinanceMalta.Jobsplus Permit Number: 438/2024Job DescriptionFinanceMalta is a Foundation set up in 2007 to promote Malta as an international financial services centre. It harnesses the strengths, experience and depth of the different Founding Members which form its Board of Governors, as well as that of its members operating in the various financial services sectors.A vacancy has arisen for the post of Research Analyst, who will report to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). The chosen candidate who will be responsible for researching, analysing, interpreting and presenting data related to markets, operations, finance, economics, and other critical information related to the financial services industry.The selected candidate must have strong mathematical, analytical and data modeling skills; the ability to represent large data sets into manageable and understandable reports; excellent problem-solving, communication and team-working skills; familiarity with data modeling and Excel software; attention to detail and strong organisational skills.The duties for the post of the Research Analyst may be viewed in Annex A.Qualifications and experience required are specified in Annex B.Annex AJob Description – Research AnalystThe duties of the Research Analyst shall include:

  1. Analysing past operations' results and performing variance analyses.
  2. Identifying and analysing trends and forecasts and recommending business opportunities
  3. Researching market trends, conducting surveys, analysing data from business operators and counterparts, analysing their operations, expenditures, and sector growth to identify patterns of potential issues or improvements.
  4. Using data analysis and interpretations to guide the decision-making of the Foundation.
  5. Using operations data to identify areas for improvement.
  6. Using statistical, economic, and data modelling techniques and tools.
  7. Organising and analysing data, creating charts and graphs, and presenting findings to the leadership team.
  8. Providing recommendations to improve future operations.
  9. Organizing and storing data for future research projects.
  10. Testing processes, policies, and protocols for efficiency and improvements.
  11. Any other duties assigned by FinanceMalta senior management.

Annex BQualifications and experience requiredA recognised Bachelor’s qualification at MQF Level 6 (subject to a minimum of 180 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent*, with regard to programmes commencing as from October 2003) in Computer Science Economics or Finance or Statistics or a comparable professional qualification.*A recognised qualification comparable to 180 ECTS/ECVETS credits, as applicable, is only accepted subject to an MQRIC formal recognition statement being submitted with the application.Qualifications at a level higher than that specified above will be accepted for eligibility purposes, provided they meet any specified subject requirements.Other Requisites:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Terms and Conditions:

  • The salary to be offered is subject to the Grade 5 Research Analyst position within the salary structure as approved by the Industrial Relations Unit (IRU);
  • A performance bonus of up to 15% of the basic salary is applicable;
  • The employee’s appointment will be on an indefinite basis, subject to a six-month probationary period.
