For those who don’t know Muscat Mizzi Advocates, can you provide some background on the company?
We are a boutique law firm based in Malta with offices in Valletta and Rabat. Our mission is to provide legal services at the highest levels and to be an instrumental part of our clients' success. We do this by integrating legal technique with industry knowledge and technology in a manner that allows us to meet the needs of our clients. We also focus on understanding the unique personal and business interests of each client in our ongoing effort of achieving extraordinary results.Through interdisciplinary collaboration and direct experience in our clients’industries, we are able to offer innovative, tailor-made advice to all those who entrust us with their business.The firm focuses on all aspects of commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution and has benefited from specialised knowledge in industries that include technology, financial services, entertainment and real estate.If we had to pride ourselves on just one thing, it would be the relationships that we have with our clients that we have built on trust and mutual recognition.
Can you share a little-known fact about your firm?
Our firm is ethically driven and prides itself in carrying out work that is deemed to be in the public interest. Such work ranges from providing professional assistance to non-profit organisations assisting the disadvantaged to providing professional assistance in respect of matters requiring law reform and crisis response.
What are you currently working on and what are your company’s plans and strategic priorities for the coming years?
We are currently looking to expand our knowledge base in our practice fields and will be recruiting more talent in the coming years.
Are there any projects/achievements of your firm that you are exceptionally proud of?
We have, with great pleasure, hosted the IT IP Law Group Europe in Malta, bringing together knowledge and expertise in the fields of IT and IP from all around Europe.
What in your opinion makes Malta an effective jurisdiction to set up a business?
The knowledge and expertise of the private sector in the fields of financial services, gaming services and other regulated business, combined with a customer-centric approach make Malta an attractive jurisdiction to set up a business.
What kind of people/companies in the financial services community would you want to connect with?
We are interested in meeting small / mid-tier operators in Malta working in the financial services sector who are looking to work with a dedicated, hands-on law firm like Muscat Mizzi Advocates.

Deborah Chappell heads Muscat Mizzi Advocates’ financial services, /fintech and finance practice. She is a lawyer specialised in corporate finance, having obtained a Doctor of Laws Degree in Malta and a Masters in Law and Finance in the United Kingdom. Today her primary practice consists in advising clients in the regulated sector in Malta.
