Sustainability on two wheels
There is so much talk around theissue of sustainability. Kenneth Gatt, the director of Motomania, believes thatthere are ways to make transport part of the solution.
For those who don’t know your company, can you provide some background?
Motomania was founded in 2008 out of a passion for motorcycles and the desire to offer Maltese riders a one-stop shop for everything on two wheels. Today, we are recognised as one of Malta’s top destinations for motorcycles, scooters, accessories, and servicing. Our business caters to both new and experienced riders, with a strong focus on quality brands, technical support, and a customer-first mindset. In recent years, we’ve expanded into the electric mobility space, reflecting our belief in a more sustainable future for transportation.
Can you share a little-known fact about your company?
A little-known fact is that Motomania was one of the earliestlocal adopters of electric scooters in Malta. We’ve long believed in the potential of sustainable mobility and have been quietly working behind thescenes to build awareness and stock reliable electric alternatives. From early demos to today’s growing selection, we've remained committed to helping ridersembrace eco-friendly commuting.
What are you currently working on and what are your company’s plans and strategicpriorities for the coming years?
Our current focus is on expanding our electric scooter offering and supporting Malta’s shift towards greener, more efficient transport. As mobility evolves, our strategic priority is to stay ahead of the curve – providing modern, eco-friendly alternatives that align with the island’s environmental goals and the growing demand for sustainable urban commuting.
Are there any projects/achievements of your company that you are exceptionally proud of?
We’re proud to have introduced several trusted international brands to the local market and of our consistent reputation for integrity and service. More recently, we’re especially proud of being part of Malta’s transition to electric mobility, helping individuals and businesses reduce their carbon footprint. Supporting road safety initiatives is another areawe’re passionate about.
What in your opinion makes Malta an effective jurisdiction to set up a business?
Malta’s compact size and high population density create both challenges and opportunities, especially regarding mobility. The rise in traffic congestion highlights the need for alternative transport, and we welcome the government’s vision of encouraging the use of motorcycles andscooters as a practical solution. Combined with the island’s entrepreneurial spirit, supportive business infrastructure, and growing sustainability agenda,Malta offers a fertile ground for companies like ours to grow and innovate.
What kind of people/companies in the financial services community would you want to connect with?
We believe there is untapped potential for collaboration between the motor bike industry and the financial services sector. We want to connect with banks andleasing companies to offer accessible financing solutions for electric scooters, especially for young professionals and delivery services. We also see great potential in working with ESG-focused investors to scale sustainablemobility projects. Insurance firms and FinTech providers can also play a keyrole in developing smart coverage and payment solutions tailored to electricand two-wheel transport. Together, we can make clean, affordable mobility areality for more people.
