FinanceMalta’s 17th Annual Conference charts Malta’s ambitions as a financial hub
Over 740 delegates attended FinanceMalta’s 17th Annual Conference, themed Empowering Financial Services.
The event, supported by a record 38 sponsors, covered innovative areas such as the rapid rise of FinTech and artificial intelligence, as well as niches where Malta could possibly look for future sectoral growth, such as the blue economy and aircraft leasing finance. Pressing issues which will determine the sustainability of the industry, such as skills shortages and enhancing trust in the jurisdiction were also the matter of engaging debate.
The conference brought together a distinguished array of stakeholders from the public and private sector. Among the special guests that addressed the Conference were Emmanuel Daniel, Author, and Futurist and KotaroIshi, Mission Chief at International Monetary Fund. The conference also heard messages from Prime Minister Robert Abela, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana and Shadow Economy Minister Jerome Caruana Cilia
Finance Malta Chairman George Vella highlighted the commitment to enhance the image of the country, to push forward simplification measures, and attract new lines of business to our shores, including sustainable and alternative methods of finance.
Joseph Zammit Tabona, Chairman of the Malta Financial Services Advisory Council (MFSAC), provided a progress update, also highlighting the key expectations for 2025, including major progress on National Payments Hub, a Central Data Repository to modernise digital infrastructure, and plans for studies identifying niches for global competitiveness in capital markets and FinTech.
