Risk Management and Compliance - An Introduction to the Theory and Practice
The IFSP will be kicking off a new course designed for risk and/or compliance officers working within CSPs as well as independent directors and CSPs: Risk Management and Compliance: An Introduction to the Theory and Practice.
Leading practitioners will explain the principles behind risk management and compliance, and lead participants through practical case studies designed to provide real-world, hands-on experience in applying the principles. The theory portion of the course will be delivered online, while the practical tutorial sessions will be held in person at Avenue 77, with an assessment leading to a certificate.
CSPs are being asked to tackle an increasing range of functions as part of the newly fledged CSP regulatory framework, including establishing a risk management plan. The IFSP has been seeking to support CSPs, many of whom are among its members, with courses designed to demonstrably prepare them to handle the demands of the CSP framework. Following the Course for CSPs and the AML for CSPs courses, this is the Institute’s third offering designed to support CSPs, and like the other CSP-oriented courses, this meets the requirements of the MFSA.
These courses do not claim to make participants experts in the areas they tackle. They are all introductory courses, aiming to provide a solid basis for their professional activity, and to know when to turn to outside experts for support and what to ask for.
The two units within the course: (i) Risk Management and (ii) Compliance, will be assessed separately, allowing students to obtain certification in only Risk Management or Compliance, or go for the full certification in both Risk Management and Compliance. Assessment will take the form of an online multiple-choice examination, with 50 questions to be tackled over an hour for each of the two units.
