Cybersecurity: bolted on or built-in?
Companies are failing to confront the issue of cyber risks and many chief information security officers need to rethink their roles to tackle this issue, according to EY’s Global Information Security Survey 2020 (GISS).The survey, which consulted almost 1,300 cybersecurity leaders worldwide, showed that only 36% of digital transformation programs include security from the beginning. It also found an increase in disruptive attacks, as well as a rise in activist attackers – now the second-most common source of significant breaches – underlining the need to refocus and invest in cybersecurity functions.Throughout this session we will discuss with you identifications and concerns that have emerged from this year’s EY Global Information Security Survey highlighting which cybersecurity functions (such as Security By Design) should become a key agent of change in order to enable the transformation that businesses must undergo to remain competitive. In addition, as organizations are moving out of the lock-down status due to Covid-19 and step by step return back to previous working conditions, we will be sharing the Return to Work Cyber considerations and what immediate steps clients should take to increase basic cyber hygiene during the ‘return-to-work’ phase by ensuring hardening of the changed IT landscape, move lockdown-related technology from an unsecured and interim state to a secure and cyber resilient one.Further focus areas would be presented to show how organizations should leverage the momentum to redefine the way they think and act cyber secure, ultimately to transform their organization to a new cyber resilience to enable the business to operate securely in the New Normal. During the session we will also analyze the importance of incorporating pandemic planning considerations into existing resilience management organization activities to provide a comprehensive response and continuity for their most critical products and services, including cybersecurity.
