Meet RiskDeck, one of Malta’s youngest fintech start-ups that joined FinanceMalta at the beginning of 2021. We reached out to Lucas Maliczak and got to know more about the company’s next generation technology solution.

Can you provide some background on the company and share a little-known fact about RiskDeck?

RiskDeck develops custom software for institutional investors to automate their back-office and centralise investment and risk operations. The company is quite young and was only founded in 2019. The venture was actually born out of the needs of an institutional investor who was looking for a tailor-made reporting tool. A team of experts in IT and finance joined forces to come up with a solution, which we are now offering internationally.

What are you currently working on and what are your company’s plans and strategic priorities for the coming years?

We are currently improving our solution further and are onboarding more clients. Our vision is to expand globally and become a reference in the fintech sector based on the strength of our technology and the expertise of our team.

Are there any projects/achievements of your company that you are exceptionally proud of?

We have recently developed a system that makes it possible to aggregate any type of data and investments into the software. It is now possible to upload positions from listed assets such as equity and bonds, but also from non-listed assets, including private equity and art, and even crypto.

All investors have their own preferences when it comes to the way they operate and what they invest in. Our hybrid system of feeding data automatically and manually is now equipped to support diverse investment styles and visualise different data sets, ranging from the nature of the investment, including shares, convertible notes and more, to a fund’s redemption terms.

What in your opinion makes Malta an effective jurisdiction to set up a business?

Malta is a small jurisdiction, which is also one of its strengths. It was easy to set up RiskDeck in Malta as we were quickly able to meet with key players in the financial services sector. Knowing that local organisations and the authorities are in close reach is also reassuring for the growth of a company like ours.

What kind of people/companies in the financial services community would you want to connect with?

We are eager to meet asset managers, risk managers and fund managers, but also family offices and private equity firms. Our goal is to build relationships with professionals from various backgrounds and to discuss how we can set better standards in the finance industry with the help of technology.
