Lawrence Walsh

Lawrence has dual nationality, being both Italian and British.

He worked at large international law firms in London (Hogan Lovells) and Milan (Clifford Chance), practising law with a focus on banking and finance transactional work, including corporate finance, debt and equity capital markets work as well as project finance, trade finance and asset finance transactions.

Lawrence joined the legal department of the EIB in 2009, initially in the Italy, Malta and Southeast Europe division, working on transactions in the public and private sector both in larger and smaller Member States, as well as Accession Countries in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.  He has gained significant experience at EIB in negotiating, structuring and finalising operations with varying degrees of complexity in a broad range of jurisdictions. Lawrence then transferred within the EIB legal department to the team dealing with transactions in Spain and Portugal, where he became Senior Legal Counsel. With a primary focus on projects in Spain, he contributed to finalising a significant number of operations, including covered bonds, securitisations, public sector operations and corporate finance transactions.
