Business mission from the Czech Republic to Malta - 11.07.08 PDF Print E-mail

As part of the activities marking the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Malta and the Czech Republic, a Business Mission is currently visiting Malta.
 
FinanceMalta has, this afternoon, hosted the members of the Czech delegation coming from the Financial and Investment Sectors as well as the Maltese Financial Services operators, to a separate meeting at its premises in Valletta.
 
During this session, FinanceMalta Chairman, Mr Joseph Zammit Tabona, welcomed the guests and briefly introduced the financial services sector in Malta while reaffirming FinanceMalta’s aim of assisting Government reach its target of having the financial services sector contribute 25% of its GDP by 2015. Mr David Cervinka, Managing Director at PKF Prague gave a brief presentation on ‘Doing Business in the Czech Financial Sector’, while Dr Michael Xuereb, Director at the MFSA addressed the framework for financial services in Malta. Mr Tonio Casapinta, Honorary Consul for the Czech Republic in Malta concluded the session. A networking reception sponsored by the MFSA was held after the meeting.
 
The Business Mission, headed by the Hon. Dr Milan Hovorka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of the Czech Republic, together with H.E. Vladimir Zavazal, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malta and various Czech officials were also present. The aim of this afternoon’s session was to revive business contacts and renew commercial relationship with Maltese organizations and businesses in the financial services sector.
 
This is the first time FinanceMalta is hosting a business mission in Malta but it plans to organise more of these in the near future. Currently FinanceMalta is looking at the possibility of holding a number of roadshows in Scandinavia, Italy and Slovakia amongst others, with the aim of putting Malta in the limelight and attracting further financial services business to Malta.
