Date of Formation:

The Association was officially founded on 17th September 2001.

 

Membership Criteria:

Membership is on a corporate basis and is open to all Maltese resident companies that hold a license issued by the Malta Financial Services Authority (or equivalent authority) to provide investment services, and which, either acts as the MFSA-recognised agent in Malta for regulatory purposes of overseas funds, or acts as a fund manager of local funds licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority. All eligible applicants may apply in writing to the Association to be admitted as a member.

Aims of the Association:

- to promote collective investment schemes in Malta;

- to co-operate with any other institution or person to promote funds and investment therein in Malta;

- to represent the funds’ industry in Malta and abroad;

- to promote education and discussion about investing in, managing and regulating funds;

- to serve the public by ensuring that legislation and regulations affecting funds are fair in content and are administered fairly and to represent members with Government bodies and regulators;

- to take any measure which may be deemed desirable to further the interests of investors or of professions related to the funds industry.
