A number of significant amendments to both direct and indirect tax legislation have been approved by Parliament in the last few months.

The amendments to the Income Tax Acts and the Duty on Documents and Transfers Act refer mainly to the introduction of a number of anti-tax avoidance provisions. The amendments also include various measures related to international operations.

The changes to the Value Added Tax Act arise mainly from new provisions governing the place of supply rules for services and include the introduction of a number of related administrative obligations.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has been actively following these developments and PwC Academy is organising a one-day conference (on Tuesday 4 May 2010) aimed at discussing the contents of these new provisions as well as their implications for the business community.
